Artist - Sherri Carter

Sherri Carter is a full-time artist living in Eagle, Idaho. Although she has worked in pencil, charcoal and pen and ink, Sherri prefers to paint in oil. Her "tonal landscapes" are inspired by images from Idaho and the northwest where she travels to paint on site from nature. Sherri's paintings reveal underlying emotion, simplified composition and understated subject matter with her "less is more" approach. Her atmospheric paintings are produced with layers of luminous translucent glazes.

In 2008, Sherri was awarded the "Best of Show" award at the Boise Art Museum's "Art in the Park,” and in 2009 she was awarded the "Best Wildlife/Animal" painting in the "Idaho Paints Idaho” show, sponsored by the Eastern Idaho Art Museum.

Sherri graduated from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design. She spent many years working as a graphic designer with several major design firms before returning to fine art in 2004.
